How To: Use Your San Diablo Churro Dry Mix

Looking for an easy artisan-quality churro you can make in under 10 minutes in your kitchen? It doesn’t get much easier than the San Diablo just-add-water dry dough mix. Using our dough mix, you can make delicious gourmet churros in just a few quick steps. We promise you won’t be able to taste the difference between our just-add-water dough and dough made from scratch. We have worked hard to take our fresh recipe and convert it into a mix so all you have to do is add  water.

You will need:

  • Oil, for frying. (Want to air fry churros? Click here).
  • 1 ¼ cup of boiling water
  • Mixing bowl & spoon

Step 1- Prep: Pre-heat oil in fryer/pot to 375 degrees F. (If you’d like to make air-fried or baked churros, click here for a video demonstration). Empty the contents of your San Diablo dry churro mix into a bowl.

Step 2- Boil: Add 1 1/4 cups of water to a pot over the stove or into an electric kettle. Bring the water to a full and rolling boil. Remove from heat.

Step 3- Mix: Immediately add boiling water to the churro mix in your mixing bowl. Fully incorporate the mix and the water using a heat-resistant spoon until the dough reaches a Play-Doh-like consistency. Use dough immediately or chill to fry later.

To Fry The Churros

Step 1- Prep: After letting the dough chill slightly, load it into the San Diablo Churro Maker. Press through the barrel and twist the knob until you have your desired churro length. The San Diablo dry dough packet yields 13-15 mini churros at about 3 inches long.

Step 2- Fry: Gently place the raw churros into the hot oil on your stovetop. Fry until golden brown. Remove the churros from the oil when they have finished cooking and place them on a paper towel-covered plate to cool and drain.

Step 3- Flavor: Dust your churros with San Diablo cinnamon sugars. Our cinnamon sugars come in convenient shaker bottles so you can control how much cinnamon sugar you use according to your preference. Fill with a San Diablo Filling such as the Dulce de Leche that comes in a convenient reusable squeeze bottle with the Fiesta in a Box Kit, or get creative with items around the house. We recommend Nutella, sweetened condensed milk, jams, and nut butter. You can fill, dip, or drizzle your churros with your choice of toppings. And for added flavor "pop," we humbly suggest sprinkling some pink Himalayan salt on top!
